Bim Skala Bim’s “Boston Blue Beat” sound, is a mix of upbeat 2 tone ska, rock ‘n’ roll and calypso and reggae put them among the premier bands kickstarting the third wave of ska in the 1990s. In many ways, their story is the story of American ska.
Bim Skala Bim are still active with an unchanged line up since their formation in 1986
Sonic Tonic contains nine new songs with special guest appearances by Dave Hillyard (The Slackers), Chris Rhodes (The Mighty Mighty Bosstones) Nick Welsh (aka King Hammond) Ken Stewart (The Skatalites) and Steve Cracknell (The Dub Pistols)

Sonic Tonic is unique mix of ska, reggae and Caribbean sounds that contemplate the ups and downs of life with amazing hooks. The albums themes cover an eclectic mix of things ranging from multiculturalism (Gumbo) illicit drinking (Lighting) personal wellbeing (The Loon), age (Go Back), and travel (Cuz A U)
Sonic Tonic, was ‘donated’ to The Specialized Project in order to support their fund raising for teen cancer support and mental health charities All the tracks are exclusive to the album.
On 29th May 2021 Bim Skala Bim hosted a virtual listening parting which featured music videos for each song.
Both the CD and Digital versions were released by The Specialized Project on the 1st of June. We also have vinyl copies of the album in our web=shop.
Jump Up Records in Chicago will be releasing the Vinyl version in the United States
