We’d like to extend our thanks to all of the musicians that contributed to The Specialised Big Isofest 2020. We’re also really very greatful to everybody that watch the live streams, posted supporting comments and donated.
We pulled the event together in less then two weeks and on May 3rd 2020 we broadcast for very nearly twelve hours from our Facebook page. It was a truly international affair with over 50 bands and solo artists appearing from The Uk, France, Australia, America, Germany, Venezuela, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Peru, Greece, Argentina and even Vietnam. The event poster original listed 27 acts but many more where added as late as the morning of the 3rd. Including Horacio Blanco of Venezuela’s ska legends Desorden Público. Also among the top names appearing were Lynval Golding of The Specials, Nick Welsh (Bad Manners, The Selecter) Gary Marshall (The Hotknives) Chris Murray and Lee Thompson of Madness.
Our target was to raise £2000 for the charities we support. By the following Thursday our Go Fund Me page had received donations amounting to £2,517 and our webshop reported £1,098.00 net sales, the official event T-Shirt particularly sold well.
Also appearing where some of the current cream of the international ska community including Chuzz of Cartoon Violence, Nick Godwin and David Wright of The Sliencerz, Da Costa of The Bighead and Rob George, Jenny Whiskey and Travis Nelson of The Hub City Stompers. The Latin American ska scene provided outstanding performances from Big Mandrake, Doctor No, Vieja Skina, New Lion Ska, Out of Control Army and Ska Beat City.
We hope that the event not only provided support for our charities but also provided some relief for people frustrated by isolation and lockdown. The success of Isofest has encouraged us to consider an expanding program of streamed events that could continue long after the lockdown restrictions have been lifted. The streams are still available on our Facebook page so please enjoy a a catch up on some great music
