The Home Recording Project
For many, music is a lifeline that keeps them tethered to the world, and without it, so many of us would be lost entirely. We’ve set up a group of home isolated musicians across the world to take part in a really exciting project.
The original thought was to give people something to work on during this unprecedented time and to show that social distancing doesn’t mean an end to social interaction.
This has now become a multinational venture with musicians from Britain, America, Australia, Austria, Panama to just name a few. Everyone is recording their individual instruments at home and sending the results to us to become a full song. As it stands after the first night of suggestion, we already have enough instrumental talent to cover all the instruments you’d find in a large ska band but it’s not all about Ska. We expect to produce a number of songs in many different styles.
Within the first couple of weeks we’ve probably got an albums worth of material on the go. We’ve already completed reggae versions of Unchain My Heart and The Chain. We’ve also got versions of:
(Don’t You) Forget about Me (Simple Minds), Easy (The Commodores), Message in a Bottle (The Police), I’ll Be There (The Four Tops), Superstition (Steve Wonder), Life on Mars (David Bowie)
and many original songs as well.
We have a Facebook group of around thirty musicians across the world and we’d really like to hear from people that record drums (doesn’t matter if it’s an electronic kit) bassists and singers.
