The Scotch Bonnets will be travelling over from America for a one off set at The Big One Festival on Friday 6th November.
Punky reggae rockers from Baltimore whose infectious energy keeps the party jumping all night, The Scotch Bonnets have been bringing the heat and their good-love vibes since their debut in 2009. The crew is fearlessly lead by singer/guitarist Kristin Forbes aka Lady Hatchet, whose tunes blend classic Jamaican groves with a soulful yet fresh approach to American singer-songwriting.
At ten years old, the band this year released their second full-length album, Come On Over on Jump Up Records to much fanfare. In support of the album, the band has twice toured to the West Coast: once in February, opening for American ska founders, The Toasters, and again in June to play the main stage of the Victoria Ska & Reggae Festival in Victoria, BC.

The Bonnets released their first full-length Live Ya Life in 2012, dropped Quest on Morphius Records in 2014, an EP done in collaboration with legendary hardcore singer HR of Bad Brains, and released The District 7” on Jump Up Records in 2017.
Twice the Bonnets have backed Roddy Radiation, founding lead guitarist of the 2 Tone pioneers, The Specials. In advance of the 2015 run, the Bonnets released a video for their version of “Tropical London”, a contribution to Smelvis Records’ tribute to Rancid, Hooligans United. The video has since been viewed over 17 thousand times on YouTube. Their 2018 stint culminated with their second appearance at the Supernova International Ska Festival, playing one Scotch Bonnets’ set and one backing Roddy.
They have earned praise for their contributions to numerous compilations, particularly their take on “Are You Red…y” found on Recutting The Crap, a Crooked Beat Records’ LP that reinterpreted The Clash’s swan song, Cut The Crap. The Bonnets had the privilege of recording their track at DC’s punk pantheon Inner Ear Studio with owner Don Zientera.
This fall, The Scotch Bonnets are embarking on another round of touring, again supporting The Toasters. They are currently looking ahead to 2020, seeking festival dates both nationally and internationally.
The journey is continually evolving for these reggae cats. Mee-yowza!
