The Big One 2024 will take place on 8th 9th 10th November at Shorefield Country Park, Milford on Sea, Hampshire.
The award winning Ska & Reggae Festival, now in its 13th year is back in 2024 and is shaping up nicely.

“Bad Press” transports us effortlessly way back in time nearly half a century to the high water mark of old school roots reggae, dub and ska evoking the prophetic and soulful sounds of the likes of Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Burning Spear, Jimmy Cliff et al while lyrically we stay firmly in the now. Musically, Captain Accident calls down the power of bands like UB40, The Toasters, Jimmy Cliff, The Wailers, Judge Dread, and Chris Murray. While predominantly influenced by reggae music, fans of a more traditional ska or rocksteady sound will also find a kindred spirit with Bad Press. At its heart, you’ll find plenty on there to dance to, but dig a little deeper and you’ll hear songs about love, politics, and social issues. Much like the roots reggae that inspired the album, the songs don’t shy away from hard hitting topics.

The Cartoon Violence sound is an insanely catchy affair that mixes super bouncy 2 tone ska with distinctly British sounding pop & indie stylings. Their songs capture the classic Brit Pop storytelling vibe of the likes of The Kinks, Madness, Squeeze, The Hotknives & Parklife-era Blur, with each tune lyrically being like a mini kitchen sink drama in its own right!

Founded by a former surfer and based somewhere on the Devon and Cornwall coastlines, Instincts Take Over have reinvented themselves as a new genre defying exciting five piece. Using ska as an underlying style they incorporate a wider range of genre in their writing. The band are currently working towards their debut album.
